SINCE long before the existence of Greenway — one of western Sydney’s newest residential developments at Marsden Park — Sumit Walia had an eye on the locale. Originally from India, Mr Walia and his wife were among the first to purchase a house and land package in a new community that will eventually include more than 600 homes, a supermarket and specialty shops, a large village green, a playground, a half basketball court and barbecue area. In fact, the Walias were so taken with Greenway — its strategic location and promised amenities — that they recommended the area to a handful of friends and family who have since also set in train the purchase of their own house and land packages in the subdivision. Last Wednesday Mr Walia was among those at the official launch and start of major civil works at Greenway, located on the northern side of Richmond Road not far from the M7 and within easy reach of major regional centres including Blacktown and Rouse Hill.
“We were the third to purchase here,” Mr Walia said. “We were looking for something in this area because of the development that is coming here.” Mr Walia said his wife, in particular, was pleased about the proximity of Greenway to the Sydney Business Park, currently under construction on the southern side of Richmond Road, which will be home to major retailers including IKEA, Bunnings, Costco and Masters.
The anticipated completion of their house by mid-2015 will make life simpler for the family — Mrs Walia works at nearby Hassall Grove and the couple plans to send their daughter to a school in Glendenning in a couple of years. Developed by Legacy Property, the first and second stages of Greenway have been snapped up by both first-home buyers and upgraders. There will be further land releases at Greenway in the near future.
