People camp out to secure house and land packages at Marsden Park
‘DEMAND for new homes is so strong, people camped out overnight for the chance to buy a house and land package at Greenway, a new residential development at Marsden Park on the weekend.
An email and SMS was sent to a database of interested home buyers at 8am for a 9am issue of priority numbers on Saturday. By 9am, there were about 200 people at the Greenway sales office on Richmond Rd, vying for the chance to get a priority number for one of 50 houses going on sale next weekend. Priority numbers are issued to potential buyers ahead of a sales release due to a high level of demand and are intended to prevent people from camping out prior to sales day. The first in line gets to choose the home and land package they want and then on the sales day the numbers are called.
Greenway spokeswoman Zan Davies said demand is so strong at the moment, priority numbers are being issued across most developments. “Landcom does this at The Ponds when the demand is high,” she said. About 100 priority numbers were issued for Greenway, with eight groups camping on Richmond Rd over night “on spec” to secure their lot. Lauren Havas and Emilio Casenave were the first in line for a priority number after camping out overnight in their car. The first home buyers from Oxley Park said they were buying a Champion Homes house. “We really think Greenway has lots of potential. It is close to the M7, shops and across the road from the Sydney Business Park Homemaker centre,” Ms Havas said. “Greenway was well priced and in our price range. It is close to where we work and our family live in the general area.” Greenway house and land prices range from $491,800 to $683,990 and lot sizes vary between 330sq m to 586sq m. The first sale starts at 10am on Saturday, November 23. There will be another sales release in the new year.’
